Description

Formed in New York in the early ’90s, Codeine became one of the defining bands of the slowcore movement, creating music built on restraint, space, and emotional weight rather than volume or speed.

Though never commercially massive, Codeine developed a cult following through records like Frigid Stars and The White Birch, becoming a cornerstone of underground alternative music. The stark black and white cat graphic reflects the band’s quiet, lo-fi aesthetic, understated, melancholic, and recognisable to fans of the era.
